OVERVIEW: With representatives from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Brunei, each panel member will provide a very brief overview of this topic in their countries, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q & A.  


 Nuraizah Shamsul Baharin is the Managing Director of Madcat World Sdn. Bhd., a multimedia company that produces mobile applications, content and services in the retail industry tourism, health, Islamic and mobile book publishing. Madcat has over 980,000 downloaded apps in 201 countries around the world, one of which was named in the top 47 in the Mobile Premier Awards worldwide in 2010. In 2012, Madcat was also named finalists for Best Startup Company and Best Mobile Application in the NEF-Awani Awards 2011.

Nuraizah was graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the University of Michigan and started her career as a Product Engineer with Motorola Malaysia working in Malaysia and Europe. She received two technical excellence awards and three productivity excellence awards before expanding her career to successful roles in business development. In 2013, she won NEF-Awani ICT Awards for Best Woman Technopreneur.   

Nuraizah is the Immediate Past President of WENA, the Association of Bumiputra Women Entrepreneur Network of Malaysia (www.wena.org.my).  She is now Malaysia’s representative to the ASEAN Women Entrepreneur Network, established to promote the business opportunities among leading ASEAN women entrepreneurs. Nuraizah is also Head of ICT for Peniagawati and part of the Leadership Team of Business Network International (BNI Ampang Chapter.)

Jennifer Kenney, residing in Jakarta, Indonesia, has 30 years of experience in strategy, leadership development and information technology. She has lectured at Stanford University Executive Briefing Program; the University of Colorado’s Profiles in American Enterprise program; the University of Santa Clara, Leavey School of Business, MBA Program. Her conference presentations include the Northern California Human Resources Council Annual Conference; WITI (Women in Technology) Annual Conference; Irish Female Leaders in Silicon Valley. She is scheduled to deliver the keynote at the Hilton Worldwide, Women’s Leadership Conference in Shanghai in March 2015.

Jennifer has held senior consulting positions with Accenture, Booz Allen and Gartner, senior executive roles with Wells Fargo and Cisco. She was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at SRI International where she designed and led the enterprise’s IT transformation program.

Jennifer is on the Board of Directors of Global Women's’ Leadership Network and is a Fellow of the Irish Computer Society.  She holds a M.Sc. (Hons.), in Engineering Geology, Imperial College, University of London, a B.Sc.(Hons), in Geology and Chemistry from University College, Dublin. She has also won the internationally acclaimed IDG DEMO Entrepreneurship Award and the Intel/University of California Business Plan Award.

Aurora Soriano is the CEO and Founder of PinoyTravel, an online booking system for seats on provincial buses and ferries; the first of its kind in the Philippines.  A first-time entrepreneur, she worked previously as a business development executive for two of the largest mobile telecom companies in the Philippines for more than 20 years.

Au is a graduate in Electronics & Communications Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology. She started her career in the telecommunications industry as a network engineer and later transitioned to business development.

Haslina Taib, M.B.A., is the Chief Executive Officer of BAG Networks, a joint venture between the Government of Brunei and Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. She spent 20 years in Europe and North America before returning to Brunei (Far East) and has held positions in Audit, IT implementation, Forensic, Tax, Treasury Management, Media and Real Estate at various companies such as KPMG, Panel Kerr Foster, Andersen, WPP, Hill Knowlton Europe and the Dorchester Group of Companies.

Haslina is also a Board member of several organizations, including iBudaya, managing cultural projects and publishing DUAMinggu, and leads various real estate projects. She is the Deputy Chairman for the Brunei InfoCom Federation and members of the APEC Business Advisory Council ABAC, Brunei Research Council Working Group, Brunei Economic Development Board Risk and Audit Committee and Brunei Accounting Standards Council. She is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a pension fund trustee in Canada and in the UK. She holds an M.B.A. from Cranfield University.

Lucie Newcomb, M.A., is President and Chief Executive Officer of The NewComm Global Group, Inc., an international management consulting firm that provides accelerated Global Markets Leadership and Global Leadership Development programs. A former resident of South Africa and England, she has been opening markets for tech leaders and startups in Global Marketing Strategy and Global Leadership programs for more than 25 years.

Lucie is a mentor for TechWomen, a U.S. State Department exchange program with the Middle East and North Africa; US Market Access Center, an accelerator for foreign-based startups; and 3Plus International. She is also the California Representative of the World Sustainable Energy Initiative. She is currently on the Advisory Board of Market4Demand and has held a similar role with Aerio, an enterprise software open source company.

Lucie has a Bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley, where she is an Extension instructor (“Leading in a Technical Environment”), and holds a Master’s degree in Leadership from St. Mary’s College of California. Lucie has been recognized as one of the 2015 Women of Influence by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
